General Rules
- Be civil to other members. If an argument starts, either back out or take it elsewhere. If you really can't deal with each other, politely ask an admin to sort the issue - and once we close the topic, that's it.
- Try to get on with new members. If they ask decent questions, help them out - Ardor is a friendly, albeit a bit manic, place! c:
- The staff don't bite c: We're not going to pull down the banhammer for talking to us, so don't be afraid to say hello!
- Avatars should be 100x100 pixels, but you guys probably know that already. I'd ask that signatures be no more than 500px wide at an absolute maximum also, to prevent stretching the forum (400px would probably be the best width, if you can manage it, though!) . Images within posts are automatically resized, though, so don't worry about those c:
- If you need to add something out-of-character, make some kind of notation that shows us it's not part of your post! Anything should do~ c:

Character Guidelines
- You must wait for your profile to be accepted before roleplaying!
- I would suggest that your first character be knew to the region. This is mainly to help you get used to Ardor, but isn't a requirement.
- Your character can be any kind of trainer you like. For the 'trainer type' section however, please choose either Trainer, Coordinator or Breeder. Each type will have their own events and such later on~
- Twins/Triplets/etc all need their own, separate profiles! If you're playing one twin and someone else is playing the other, you'll need to collaborate to get their profiles to add up!
- When trying out for a Gym Leader or playing a Pokemon, please use the alternative forms provided~
- If you need to post up a Work-In-Progress profile for whatever reason, please put it in the WIP board to keep things tidy. When you finish it, either repost it in the main 'Character Box' forum or ask an admin to take a look at it.
- There is no limit to the number of characters you can have. Just remember it's your job to keep track, not ours, and don't feel pressured into keeping them all active at once c:
- There are no age restrictions. Just try to be somewhat sensible, and remember that characters under the age of ten are only allowed one Pokemon.
- There are pretty much no restrictions on species/look your character can be. Personally I'd like them to be at least somewhat humanish, but if we like the character then they're likely to get accepted regardless of actual species/powers/etc. Try to do more than follow the old cliches~
For example, Mulch has ears and a tail, and that's cool c:

Faceclaims
Ardor does not use official faceclaims. They are only here to allow for more flexibility if you're trying to be creative with banners/tables/small icons/etc.
However, you are allowed to use them so long as you bear this in mind;
- Faceclaims are not official, so we will not be making a list of ones.
- Faceclaims are completely optional, so don't feel you need one.
- More than one person can use a faceclaim. By this, I mean, two different people could use Light from Death Note as a faceclaim. This is because they are only supposed to be a rough guide to your character's appearance - they are not supposed to look exactly the same!
- Try to avoid using Pokemon canons as faceclaims. This is mainly because we may be planning something later. However, more generic stuff (such as using Red because he has black hair, or Yellow because of the hat) is okay, just don't completely match their entire look.
- Don't worry if you have a picture/faceclaim but don't know where it's from. If you make something larger than an icon with it, just put in a little credit saying the image is not yours, and if someone else knows later, you can add that in c:

Pokemon Guidelines
- Don't abandon the newbies! But even if your character is new to the region, they are allowed one Pokemon at a max of level ten.
- Pre-made Pokemon (ones that your character starts with) should not be over level 45. This used to be lower, but with Gen V evolutions so high, we felt we could raise this a bit~
- You may have a character who is a Pokemon. A trainer cannot catch your character without your permission, and if they do, it's up to you whether to continue playing that Pokemon or not.
- Pokemon currently have a move limit of six powerful moves. However, they may still know older, less powerful moves. For example, Daniel's Buneary is level 27 and knows Ice Beam, Return, Jump Kick and Quick Attack. It would still be reasonable to assume she still knows Tackle, though c:
- Putting accessories on your Pokemon is perfectly fine~
- Having pre-mades that aren't fully evolved or perfectly balanced with moves gives you more to do in-character! Showing a variety of Pokemon strengths/weaknesses in your profile will improve your chances of getting your profile accepted.
- There are no bans on Pokemon currently, but there are two restrictions;
-- You're allowed one Eevee (across all your characters!) unless you win a contest/trade for one/etc. -- Shinies should not be everywhere, but this is pretty obvious.

Quick Sprites
On Ardor, we use a nifty system known as 'Quick Sprites'. To use the Quick Sprites, type the name of the Pokemon you want between triangle '< >' brackets.
<tepig>
Simple! We've added every Pokemon from the 'dex, plus shiny -- add an 's' to the end of the name -- and alternate forms, so you should have no trouble getting to the sprites you need.
The only exception to this are legendary Pokemon. We only had a limited amount of space to use, and because they won't be needed nearly as much as other Pokemon, they were taken out.
On Ardor, Rotom and Volcarona are not classed as legendary Pokemon!
If you want to get the female sprite of a Pokemon with gender differences, add an 'f' to the end of the name. If you want a Shiny Female, put the 'f' before the 's' -- this is the same for alternate forms!
If you're not sure whether a Pokemon has gender differences, either look it up (Bulbapedia and Serebii will help!) or, just test putting <spritenamef> and see if something comes up. If nothing does, then it has no alternate sprite for females c:
<pikachu> || <pikachuf> || <pikachufs>
Alternate forms, use the official names.
<cherrimo> || <cherrims> Cherrim Overcast || Cherrim Sunny
Unowns: pretty obvious isn't it? Castform: sun (Sunny), h (Hail), r (Rain) Burmy: p (Plant), s (Sandy), t (Trash) Cherrim: o (Overcast), s (Sunny) Shellos/Gastrodon: e (East), w (West) Rotom: h (Heat), fa (Fan), m (Mow), fr (Frost), w (Wash) Basculin: b (Blue Stripe), r (Red Stripe) Darmanitan: z (Zen Mode) Deerling/Sawsbuck: a (Autumn), w (Winter), sp (Spring), su (Summer)

Posting Etiquette
- Godmoding and powerplaying are a definite no. If you don't know what these terms are, just ask~
- Whilst Orcus members must also pay attention to the above rule, they are allowed to jump into a thread and attempt to steal/threaten/intimidate etc. It's up to the 'victim' to decided whether or not the attack is successful (just like battling!)
- We're trying to stay semi-literate. Although it can be difficult to get out a lengthy post, a good paragraph or two is always good. After all, your word count is only really important during battles.
- Colours in posts are perfectly fine~ We want you to feel you can be creative. If you're up for it, feel free to try tables, banners, icons, sprites or whatever!
- Liquid-timing is fine, just no more than three threads at a time (can you really handle that much?). We've added in blogs/journals so you can try and keep a timeline of all your threads.
- When moving to a new area, don't just charge in with a new thread! Take a quick look around and see if there's anyone else you might like to join first~ Your character might make some friends (or enemies!)
- Proboards ToS mean maturity is off-limits. However, we're not going to pull you up for violence and minor cursing, really. Just not a lot of gory details and we should be fine~
- Mods reserve the right to do anything in your threads to make things interesting. This extends anywhere from item stashes to Pokemon encounters, weather changes to trainer battles/NPC events.

Money and How To Earn It
This will be a very short post.
Money on Ardor is pretty simple. On your profile (and the miniprofile to the left of your posts), you should see something titled 'PokeDollars' and a value next to it. This is your money.
You earn money by posting. Each post gains you $100. Since there is no real additional way to gain money, items and the like are fairly cheap compared to other forums. Below are a few ways you can earn extra Poke:
- Selling unwanted eggs from the daycare
-- If you bred, say, a Skitty and a Wailord, and you were hoping for a Skitty egg but got a Wailmer one instead, you could give away or sell the spare egg to another character. Doing something like this should go in the trading or shopping sections under 'Extra Places'.
- Buying special items.
-- Certain items, like the Amulet Coin for example, can boost the amount of Poke you earn for a post. If your character has one of these in their inventory, please say so and a member of staff can amend your Poke for you.
- Art and Graphics
-- I would prefer that art and other graphics (sprites, banners, etc) remain free on Ardor, which means they cannot be sold for Poke. I know some people make a real living from their so I won't restrict real-life commissions, but please remember that these are your fellow members!
